# Stability Pool

The Stability Pool holds JPYdf deposited to offset the debt of Troves that are liquidated. Each branch has one.

## Role and your share

When a Trove is [liquidated](/jpy-defi/borrowing-and-trove-management/liquidations.md), the Stability Pool's JPYdf is used first to offset its debt, and the Pool receives the corresponding collateral. Which collateral's liquidations you back depends on the branch you deposit into.

Your deposit therefore does not stay fixed. Each depositor's JPYdf decreases by the amount used in offsets, and the corresponding collateral becomes claimable. You can withdraw the JPYdf not used in offsets plus separately claimable JPYdf from interest and fees, and collateral. Collateral received replaces the JPYdf that was used; it is not a gain added on top of your principal.

## How JPYdf from interest and fees is recorded

Part of the borrowing interest and upfront fees is sent to the Pool as JPYdf and recorded as quantities each depositor can claim in proportion to their deposit ([Interest, Fees and Liquidation Collateral](/jpy-defi/stability-pool/yield-sources.md)). As a result, if debt and rates stay unchanged while total deposits rise, less JPYdf is recorded for the same deposit over the same period. After a branch is permanently shut down, no more interest accrues in that branch, and interest-derived JPYdf stops being recorded.

## Deposit and withdrawal constraints

* There is no fixed term, but a deposit cannot be withdrawn in the same block.
* At least 1 JPYdf must remain in the Pool as a whole after any withdrawal, so the last depositor may be unable to withdraw the full amount.
* Pools are separate for each branch and are not automatically diversified. The dwstETH Pool takes on dwstETH liquidation and withdrawal conditions; the dUSDC Pool takes on the risks of dUSDC, its issuer, and price deviation.
* Collateral received from liquidations is a dToken (a claim on the underlying asset). Converting it to the underlying asset uses the liquidity buffer shared by all users on a first-come, first-served basis, and any shortfall waits as a withdrawal request ([dToken](/jpy-defi/collateral-and-pricing/dtoken.md)). The collateral's market value keeps changing while you wait.
